I had the honour of photographing Stacey and Gary’s wedding at Doxford Hall- it was my first wedding at this beautiful location. Not only is Doxford Hall very impressive from an architectural and design point of view – but also from the photography side of things. There is so much natural light flooding the rooms and stair cases that it is really a lovely environment to shoot in.
Early on in the day I realised that although the gorgeous Stacey was the star of the show we had competition in the shape of the lovely Jack. Once he got his matching groomswear suit on there was no stopping his cuteness.
Jack was equally at home looking cute when surrounded by the bridesmaids, as he was when in the middle of all of the guys.
It wasn’t long before the ceremony got underway. Here is Stacey and Gary just after they had being pronounced Husband and Wife.
Then it was time for the group photos. Although we had to switch to plan B because the strong blustery winds outside would have played havoc with the guests’ hair and hats, hopefully we came away with some nice images on the staircase.
Stacey was adamant from the pre wedding meeting that she wanted one image on the outside staircase. Thankfully this corner was a little sheltered so we were able to set up a few shots with both hair and dress under some control.
I always think you get a full range of emotions during the speeches and this occasion was no exception.
At this time of year the light disappears very quickly. Using the lack of natural light to its full advantage gave us the opportunity for some romantic and atmospheric night time shots.
Although thankfully the wind had calmed down, the temperature had also dropped and so after getting a few shots outside, we decided to have an explore around the impressive venue. A library is perhaps not the most obvious setting for some bride and groom portraits but I couldn’t resist setting up a few images in here.
During the evening reception there was still time for a few more moments to be captured.
I wish Gary and Stacy (& of course the show-stopping Jack) all of the best in their future lives together.
