Jordon and Amber - July 29th 2017 - Stephen Beecroft

Jordon and Amber's Wedding took place at the very local and very new venue for me; Woodhorn Colliery.

I arrived at the venue to meet with Jordon and some of the guys before the ceremony to get some candid shots of them and their guests arriving.

We were a little unlucky with the weather, as the only time during the day when there was a little rain, was when we were waiting for Amber to arrive. Luckily, the staff at Woodhorn had a back up plan to get the bride into the building as quickly and most importantly as dry as possible.

We then had a lovely ceremony and the signing of the register making the marriage official.

Fortunately, when we came out, the rain had stopped. The ground was pretty much dry so we cracked on with the list of family and friends group photos that the couple had asked me to capture.

I like to do this as quickly and with as little fuss as possible. Agreeing a list in advance helps me to do this.

After letting the newly weds time to socialise with their guests, we were soon going inside for the speeches and the start of their wedding breakfast. There were some very entertaining speeches with one particular highlight having to be the announcement of the Best Men speech with a confetti cannon which gave everybody a shock.

After the reception, I had arranged with Jordon and Amber to have a little walk around the now empty grounds to get some portraits of the married couple. It is really good that we can walk around after the museum closes without anybody else in the background other than the couple's own guests. There is some really interesting backdrops to make use of at the museum.

After we had completed this portraits we headed back inside for the couple to cut their wedding cake and then the first dance.

One of the great things about summer weddings is that you have some light to play with even late in the day. Just before I finished photographing their day, I setup this image to take in the iconic colliery wheel lit up with a silver of colour on the horizon. Thanks to best man Jack P for helping hold a light for me to save me from setting up a light stand.

Thanks again to Jordon and Amber for booking me to photograph their special day.
