Fashion Shoot with Neil - 12th February 2017 - Stephen Beecroft

On a very pleasant Sunday evening myself, along with willing assistant Kara met up with Neil in front of the Baltic for a Fashion Shoot. After some recent freezing cold conditions it was nice to have a mild evening and some lovely light to work in.

We started off with some natural light shots further along the Tyne passed the Baltic. A mixture of posed and casual shots. Neil basically styled the shoot with his outfit choices which really worked well in the locations chosen throughout the shoot.

Here is my favourite from this first set.

After this set the light was starting to fade - with some lovely colours surrounding the Tyne Bridge. I decided to add some Flash in to add some drama and definition to Neil. Looking Kara was there to help out getting the light into the right place. The setting sun back lighting Neil really well.

I cant quite decide if I prefer the first image which is natural light or the contrast Flash lit second image. I keep changing my mind. Really happy with both and it is not often that happens.

We then decided to change things a little and Neil had again some more excellent clothing and accessory choices to create a different look. I really love the colours that light up the Sage at night. I have used a few times because I think they are quite versatile depending on the subject. On this occasion I wanted to create the look of a Gentleman leaving or going to Opera at the Sage - as chance would have it - just as we started the Sage emptied with hundreds of people suddenly filling this previously deserted area. So we had to wait slightly to get this shot. But I am really happy with the final image.

By now we working pretty much pitch darkness. Kara had previously tried to organise some shots with Neil sitting on some steps. That had not quite worked out. But we now had another opportunity with some ledges near the Sage. This time with the darkness I wanted to create a very low key image.

Thanks to Neil for modelling and styling the shots so well. Thanks to Kara for assisting with lighting and ideas!

Hopefully it wont be too long before working with Neil again.

Here are a few more images from the shoot.

Please get in contact if you have any ideas of shoots you would like to collaborate with me on.
